John Lennon, who died December 8, 1980, at the age of 40 was a great singer,renowned songwriter,co-founded the Beatles, and an advocater of peace. The murder of John Lennon, who in so many ways became the working class hero, represented the 1960 and 70's rock'n'roll era. He was just emerging from a long period of solitude with an energy that was surprising as it was refreshing when he was gunned down by a madman. It was to end a life that was troubled from the beginning.
